A three days residential program of Training of Trainers on Safe Migration issues has been conducted by Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) in support of Caritas Germany and Caritas Nepal. The program was scheduled from 5th June 2017 to 7th June 2017. The program so conducted was a part of a yearlong project on “Awareness and Capacity Building of Youths Aspiring for Foreign Employment at Lele, Godawari, Municipality, Lalitpur”. The venue of the program was in Pasa yard Lalitpur. There were total 20 participants including organizers and Trainer.
The training and mentoring were facilitated by Mr. Bishnu B. Khatri. He was hired as a full-time trainer for the TOT program by Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal. A separate TOR was signed by Mr. Bishnu Khatri. The overall facilitation, coordination of the program was done by program coordinator of JCYCN Mr. Abesh Adhikari. At the first day of the session, the informal inauguration and welcome speech were given by Mr. Adhikari. The second session was taken by Mr. Bishnu Khatri sir. The session was intended to divide groups for further workshops and group works. One of the sessions was taken by Mr. Abesh Adhikari briefing the importance of organizing the TOT session and the details of project progress information. One of the sessions was also taken by Miss Sylvia Rai Program Coordinator of Caritas Nepal. She briefed about the active participation of beneficiaries on the training and the organizational profile of Caritas Nepal. She was supported by Pursottam Lama, a desk officer from Caritas Nepal.
President of JCYCN Mr. TIlottam Paudel also took two of the sessions. His sessions intended to provide light upon the importance of child club, youth clubs and youths participation in our program. He also exchanged the ideas about safe and unsafe migration linking it with human trafficking. Rest of the sessions was taken by Mr. Bishnu Khatri. His Session was entirely based on the issues to be covered. His session covered the legal aspects of foreign employment and safe migration, rules and facilities for the youth migrations in golf countries, the importance of having legal documentation, skills and orientation before applying for foreign employment, relation between migration and foreign employment, factors of migration and foreign employment, agencies working for safe migration etc. Different pictorial and workshops methods were used to help beneficiaries understand the concerning issues. The program ended with the formation of an Action plan by beneficiaries on how they would implement the lesion on filed in coming days. The commitments were also made from beneficiaries on the formation of a network to work together to stop unsafe migration in and from Lele. Participants were from 7 youth clubs of Lele, and a social study teacher from Saraswati Higher Secondary School, Social Mobilizers, Program officer, general member and program coordinator of JCYC. Program Coordinator and desk officer from Caritas Nepal were also present during all the sessions.
The program ended with active participation and thanksgiving to all the beneficiaries, organizers, supporters and venue providers. The certification of participation, token of love was provided to beneficiaries and trainer.
