23rd May, 2018, Mahottari – An interaction program on girls’ empowerment and Child-Friendly Local Governance (CFLG) was jointly organized by Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN), National CFLG Forum, and Youth Network for Peace and Development (YNPD).

In the event, there was an active participation of 30 girls from 8 child clubs. Mr. Tilottam Paudel, President of JCYCN expressed the importance of CFLG, the importance of girl’s role in reducing child marriage and child violence. Satyendra Yadav, Secretary of Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON)and Mr. Suresh Thakur of YNPD also shared their views on CFLG and girls empowerment.

The program was effectively carried out by educating the girls and being educated by them. During the program, the participated girls also stood up and spoke about their rights and about gender discrimination. They asked to develop safe and clean toilets in the educational institute for clean hygiene. Throughout the event, they also shared about the home issues and family members’ different perspective towards boy and girl which has been binding them from their further development and growth. They requested to develop a safe, fair and friendly environment for girls.
