On 8th – 9th October 2018, Asian NGOs International Development Conference 2018 was organized by Taiwan Alliance in International Development (Taiwan AID) and Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation in collaboration with Department of Geography, National Taiwan University at GIS NTU Convention Center, Taipei City, Taiwan. The theme for the conference was “Transforming SGDs into Action: Leadership, Engagement and Innovation”. There was a participation from NGOs from 16 countries including Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) from Nepal. Mr. Tilottam Paudel, President of JCYCN, and Ms. Ashma Aryal, Asian Girls Ambassador, attended the event during their visit to Taiwan.

The two-day conference was officially started by a speech by the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Chen Chien-jen KSG KHS and the welcoming remarks by Ms. Rebecca Wang (Chairperson, Taiwan AID) on 8th October 2018. This was closely followed by a keynote speech given by Mr. Cyril Ritchie (First Vice President, CoNGO, Switzerland) on “Transforming SDGs into Action” while the program was moderated by Dr. H.H. Michael Hsiao (Chairman, Taiwan-Asian Exchange Foundation). A panel session on the topic “South-South Cooperation” was held following this, with panelists Dr. Shiuh-Shen, Chien (Professor, Dept. of Geography, NTU), Ms. Priti Darooka (Executive Director, PWESCR International, India), Mr. Thilak Kariyawasam (Executive Director, Sri Lanka Nature Group) and Ms. Estrella Catarata (Global Coordinator, The Reality of Aid, Philippines). Mr. Chien-wen Mark Shen (Director, Yunus Social Business Centre, Taiwan) gave a keynote speech on “Strengthen private sector and NGO collaboration to facilitate social return of investment (SROI)”. Moderator Dr. Nina Kao (Executive Director, Taiwan AID/CEO, Oversees Medical Mission Center, Changhua Christian Hospital). This was then followed by the final event of the day, which was a panel session on the topic “Private Sectors Engagement and Implement SDGs”. This was moderated by Mr, Chien-wen Mark Shen, while Mr. Arul Sambandam (Vice President-Operations, Feng Tay Enterprises Co. Ltd., India Region), Dr. Rangasamy Elango (Managing Trustee, Kuthambakkam Village, India), Mr. Phan Anh Son (Director General, PACCOM, Vietnam) and Ms. Samantha Woods (Director of Hong Kong, CSR Asia) were the panelists for the event. After the panel discussion, the floor was opened for a feedback session and the day was concluded shortly after.

The second day of the conference on 9th oct 2018, was started after the seating of all the participants in the hall. The fist program for the day was a keynote speech by Mr. Ohashi Masaaki (Director, Sacred Heart Institute for Sustainable Futures, Japan) on “Youth Empowerment and innovation”, which was moderated by Mr. Jay Hung (Executive Director, Taiwan AID/CEO, Zni-shan Foundation, Taiwan). The end of the formal programs occurred after the final panel session of the conference was held on the topic “Youth Empowerment and innovation.” This session was moderated Mr. Katsuhito Okubo (Co-Chair of the Board, Japan Youth Platform for Sustainability) and the panelists for it were, Mr. Gino Zhang (Founder and Chairperson, Zhengzhou Heqin youth volunteer center, China), Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao (Country Director, ActionAid Vietnam), Mr. Jisnu Yom (President, Better World, Korea), Mr. Liang Yi Chang (Co-Founder, Plan b, Taiwan), Ms. Thi Dung Dinh (Asian Girl Ambassador, Vietnam), Ms. Anais Szu-Yin Fang (Asian Girl Ambassador, USA).  After the formal session  was over the event was closed by the closing remarks from the organizers.
