On 24th November 2018, Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) with the support from Kinder in Nepal e.V. distributed 50 goats to 25 venerable families under the Income Generation Project in Kirtipur, Devchuli – 6, Nawalparasi.
The program was initiated by Mr. Tilottam Paudel (President of JCYCN) along with Mr. Deepal Sharma (General Secretary of JCYCN). Mr. Deepak Prasad Bashyal, Mr. Khimananda Bhusal (Advisor of JCYCN), Hom Nath Jaisi (JCYCN Patron), Mr. Min Bahadur Soti (Ward President – 6), Veterinary Doctors, consultants and local people of the community were also present for the event.
The 25 families were given two goats each to help support their livelihoods. The goats were distributed with the motive to help sustain the education and healthcare of the children, and to allow the family to care for them daily.
This is the second phase of the income generation project which has been running in the area since January 2018. In the first phase, 20 most venerable families were selected in the community and were given two goats per family. Constant monitoring of the community has been done since the initiation of the project which has shown an improvement in the health and hygiene of those 20 households.
There are 160 households in the community which are at a vulnerable state. Among these 160 households, the project advisory committee of JCYCN had selected 45 households which were the most venerable over the two phases of the project and distributed 2 goats each for livelihood sustenance.
