Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) in collaboration with Indigo Children’s Fund UK organized an evert for “Inauguration and Handover of new Building of Sakala Devi Secondary School” on 6th Sept 2018. The inauguration and handover of the building was done by the esteemed chief guest Mr. Jagat Bahadur Sunar (Bishwakarma), Minister of Youth and Sports. The event was chaired by SMC chairperson Til P. Pathak. The other guests included province parliament member Roshan Gaha, central parliament member Tilak Mahat, Indigo Children’s Fund UK representative Deepak Prasad Bashyal, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, CDO, SSP, women group representatives, persons from the media, teachers, parents, students, social workers and over 2000 Stakeholders.

The devastating earthquake of 25th April 2015 and 15th May 2015 had destroyed one of the buildings belonging to Sakala Devi Secondary School. This had resulted in the school not being able to have enough classrooms to accommodate all the students. The construction process was initiated on 6th Nov 2017 by the former CCWB Director Tarak Dhital in the presence of Indigo Children’s Fund UK’s representative Quintin Clover. The new building consisting of 4 rooms was constructed with the financial support from Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) and Indigo Children’s Fund UK amounting NPR 5,300,000 and NPR 625,711 from the School Support fund totaling NPR 5,925,711 (In words: Fifty-Nine Lakh Twenty-Five Thousand Seven Hundred Eleven). The construction was carried out with the coordination from Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN).

Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Jagat Bahadur Sunar (Bishwakarma) expressed his thanks to JCYCN and Indigo Children’s Fund UK for providing aid to the school and the children. He also said that the Government of Nepal would always be willing to work with various organizations to provide support for child and youth rights. Mayor of Devchuli Municipality Purna Kumar Shrestha and Province parliament member Roshan Gaha addressed the crowd and thanked JCYCN for their help in the construction of the building and asked them to continue their work on Girls Emp­­­­­owerment and child rights.

The event also included a cultural program by the children along with a speech by child club representative. All the individuals and organizations which had contributed to the construction of the school were honored and given a token of love by the chief guest. Tilottam Paudel, President of Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal and Laxmi Acharya Shivakoti, Principal of Sakala Devi Secondary School thanked everyone for their support and coordination.
